Liver is the most important organ of the body and is present in the right-hand side of the belly. Various life-sustaining functions performed by the liver include glycogen synthesis, bile storage, stores vitamins, etc. Various tests performed to check proper functioning of the liver in order to serve the above-mentioned body functions are bilirubin total, bilirubin indirect, bilirubin direct, protein total, globulin, albumin, alkaline phosphatase or ALP, SGOT or AST, SGPT or ALT, serum albumin/globulin ratio and gamma GT or GGT. 4. Kidney Tests Kidneys are very important as they perform several functions: filtering and removing wastes in form of urine, vitamin D production, maintaining levels of water and minerals, etc. They are two in number and are present on the either side of the spine. Various tests are performed to check the proper functioning of the kidneys. These tests are called kidney function tests. It majorly detects the disorders of three types of cells that circulate in the blood: white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs) and platelets. It include following 26 tests: hemoglobin (Hb), total WBC count (TLC), RBC count, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, packed cell volume (PCV), platelet count, peripheral smear examination (P/S), RBC distribution width-standard deviation (RDW-SD), RBC distribution width-coefficient of variation (RDW-CV), platelet distribution width (PDW), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR), platelet crit (PCT), absolute neutrophils count, absolute lymphocytes count, absolute monocytes count, absolute eosinophils count, absolute basophils count, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). 8. Diabetes Check Diabetes check includes fasting blood sugar or glucose test. This test helps in determining the low and high levels of insulin, which causes type I and type II diabetes.
